i can boldy think that i don't want to fear. but i'm silent. i boldy live, but i do not always boldly speak. i cower behind a veil of timidity and "space." under the guise of not interfering. my fear wears many excuses, but it's still fear. :: MATTERS OF THE HEART ::

my sister posted a link to this on her blog today.

my first thought was "yesss!" because i am tired of seeing people's bra straps, panties, butt cracks, boobs, muffin tops...things i (or anyone else) shouldn't be seeing. it's just too much. it's not just a matter of modesty or humility.i t's a matter of good (or bad) fashion and good (or bad) manners!

sometimes i think people go a little over the top with regard to how a Godly woman should dress and i thought that this blog entry might go that route -- pushing the long skirts, long hair, high necklines on us. but in reading it i see that every single thing that is said is reasonable and true.

i believe that it's possible to be stylish/trendy, to look good, to express yourself through clothing AND to be appropriate and modest at the same time. to respect our brothers in Christ. to not exploit their weaknesses.

i feel like i'm a pretty modest dresser, so i'm not necessarily looking at this blog and the lists, thinking, "oh yeah, i need to stop doing/wearing that (low cut blouse, high cut skirt, etc)."

for me, it's not as much a matter of the application, it's more importantly a matter of the consideration: "the answer starts in the intent of the heart. a woman should examine her motives and goals for the way she dresses. is her intent to show the grace and beauty of womanhood? is it to reveal a humble heart devoted to worshipping God? or is it to call attention to herself and flaunt her beauty? or worse, to attempt to lure men sexually?"

i cannot get enough of "18th floor balcony" by blue october tonight.

takes me back to that beginning-of-a-relationship fun and excitement and nervousness and innocence. that feeling of knowing what you hope you know will come but you fear that it might not and what if it does? it crushes you but the waiting itself is crushing you. in a good way. in the best way. such extreme happiness and anticipation and everything rolled into one.

i miss that.

THE RESCUE - my aftermath

dear rescue watchers & riders,

i sit here, not sure what to do next. or now. for 6 days i've known just what to do at almost every moment (excluding "should i stay or should i go?"). i've stayed. i've sat at my computers (yes, plural). i've met and made many new friends. i've shared so many tears and almost as many laughs. who would ever think a potato could be so funny?

and now here i sit, hesitant to get up. to move. because The Movement has kept me here for so long and given me so much as i gave back to it. it's been an honor and a blessing. it's been an incredible journey that i hope to never forget. and when i move from this place and go back to the "real" world, i know i won't encounter this feeling of fellowship i've shared with all of you. you know what it's been like. you understand how it feels. what it means. what a difference we have made and are making. and i know that no matter how many times i tell the story to anyone who will listen, no one else could ever know like you all do.

whether you're an upper or a lower, or don't even know what that means, i truly do love you all and thank you for sharing this with me.
